Cumaru slab w/ x base

Sanded Top

At this point in the table production this Cumaru slab has gone through kiln drying, planing, sanding, and been epoxy filled. Now the edge is being cleaned up to remove bark and any rotting wood as well as applying the necessary roundover.

While at this stage it has a dull appearance, it will be sanded to remove all scratches and then our water based polyurethane will make the final product shine! You might notice the different colors between the center and the very outer edge, this is sapwood which is slightly softer than the heartwood. When treated properly this part of the slab can be a nice contrast to the heartwood.

Finished Cumaru Table

Here we have a fully finished Cumaru dining table with a custom X base that is mounted 12" inset. Compared to the previous slide it is now has no scratches and shows off the wood for its natural look due to a clear satin finish.

Cumaru is also known as Brazilian Teak is one of the best hardwoods for outdoor use because of how dense it is. It is rot and weather resistant and fares well against termites and other wood boring insects.

The base attached is an X-style base made from steel tubing and 3/8" steel plate that is powder coated satin black, a common color we recommend as it hides the base and puts more emphasis on the hardwood top.

At this point in production this slab has gone through kiln drying to furniture grade moisture levels of 8-12%. It has been planed to the just above final thickness to ensure that it is completely flat on both sides. It is now being epoxy filled, where every check or imperfection will be filled smooth.

From there it will be sanded in our 52" wide belt sander and will be 150 grit sanded. Following this the edges will be sanded and rounded to ensure a smooth finish and the surfaces will be sanded to 220 grit by hand to remove any and all scratches. Finally it will be sprayed with water based polyurethane which will make for a smooth and satin finish that makes the grain explode with its true color.
